Who We Are

Theatre With an Attitude!

At Attitude Theatre, we are on a mission to showcase the talents of our community through professional quality shows. Our team of directors, actors, and production crew strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all who wish to be a part of our productions.

Inclusive Environment

Why Attitude Theatre ?

Over the years we observed a distinct lack of opportunity for newcomers who had a desire to volunteer and participate in our local community theatres whether it be directing, acting or design.  Far too often it was difficult for some very talented people, particularly young folks who wanted to develop their skills, to get a foot in the door. Local writers had almost no opportunities to develop their work except in The Fringe if you could get a venue. We are looking to fill that need by suggesting community theatre dedicate part of their season to new works. Attitude Theatre is not about competing with the established professional companies in Victoria, but rather a support for those individuals both young and old who wish to collaborate, cultivate, and practice their craft in the performing arts.

Attitude Meets Opportunity

Attitude Theatre provides a diverse range of opportunities to aspiring performers of all ages and backgrounds.

Professional Caliber Theatre

With top-notch productions and community-based actors, Attitude Theatre offers a truly professional experience for all involved.

Welcoming and Accessible

At Attitude Theatre, we believe in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all performers, regardless of their backgrounds.

Equality and Collaboration

We promote equality of opportunity and collaboration between our directors, performers and production team, creating a respectful and supportive community.

For Performers of All Ages

Attitude Theatre is committed to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for aspiring performers of all ages to practice and cultivate their craft in the performing arts.

Our Vision

To entertain, challenge, and inspire our audiences through dynamic theatre experiences that amplify diverse voices and celebrate our humanity.

Our Mandate

To produce theatre that engages and entertains audiences through the perspective of diverse narratives, and to inform and celebrate the human journey. We provide an environment for artists to bring new ideas and offer a structure to put those ideas on stage. Through this process of collaboration, we offer opportunities for artists to cultivate and hone their craft.

Our Values

Diversity:
We value the practice of involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds, ages, different genders and sexual orientations.

Inclusivity:
We value inclusion as a measure of a theatre culture that enables diversity to thrive.

Community:
We value accessible opportunities for community participation and strive to actively seek local knowledge and expertise.

Respect:
We value a respectful work and creative space where all who participate are treated fairly. Difference is acknowledged and valued, communication is open, conflict is addressed early and there is a culture of empowerment and cooperation.

Territorial Acknowledgement

Attitude Theatre Society acknowledges the traditional territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən speaking people, also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations communities, who have been here since time immemorial, and on whose  territory we live, create and produce theatre art.

As a theatre organization, we stand against the systems of oppression that have dispossessed Indigenous people of their lands and denied their rights to self-determination. We do this by approaching culturally specific works with humility as co-learners in the creative process.
